Goals

My goal for this upcoming year is to focus on inclusivity and involvement, because communication, unity, and transparency can only be improved when we listen to each other and put our skills together. I hope that each and every one of you will experience the best sophomore year you can possibly experience in our upcoming year, because your experience in high school matters to me.

Plans

Class-wide Weekly Newsletter

Oftentimes, I feel like our class and the class officers are a bit disconnected. Well, especially with over 500 students in our class, effective communication is hard to achieve. Only 60% of our class uses Facebook, and a lot of us don't check Facebook or the class group every single day! This is why I'd like to implement a weekly newsletter system in our class, so that every single one of you will be updated on a regular basis. Our current sophomores have something called the "Sophomore Scoop", which is a newsletter that is sent to the entire class. One of my goals for this year is to increase involvement, and in order to do that, our entire class needs to know what is happening! This newsletter will be the solution to communication and transparency between the class and the class officers.

I want our newsletter to be weekly, because that way, everyone will be able to easily know what the class officers are up to, and what the upcoming events are! Weekly newsletters are more effective than monthly newsletters because events, coaches, and choreographers often have to change something mid-month, and you shouldn't have to wait a whole month later to know what's going on! Especially in busier months (for class events) like September, October, and March, a weekly newsletter is essential for great and effective communication between the class officers and the whole class. Our newsletter would be our main way of communication, and Facebook would be for reminders of any practices/rehearsals, or last minute changes that you need to know immediately. After elections, I plan to gather all of the emails of all of the students in the Class of 2021, and if you are uncomfortable with giving out your email, we can email your parents to tell you instead. With all of the emails of our class, we can begin to send out our own "Sophomore Scoop", and begin to update you on everything homecoming and class related!

(optionally) Anonymous Feedback Form, open 24/7

After being a class officer for one year, I've learned how important it is to get feedback from the people you are serving so that you can learn what you did well, or what you need to improve on. I'd like this feedback form to be a way for every single one of you to be able to tell the class officers how you feel about anything that's related to the class, or us! Only you can tell us how we can improve, and this (optionally) anonymous feedback from will be a way for you to have a voice for what you believe in. I promise to read to every single one of your comments, and take action if I need to. I know that a lot of you genuinely care about your high school experience, so this feedback form is the least I could do to increase inclusivity.

This feedback form will be anonymous, but you can include your name and email if you'd like us to reach out to you and respond to your comments! To increase transparency, I'd also like to post our responses to your questions (if we are given permission), so the whole class can understand our stance on certain issues or decisions that were made. Since I want to focus on inclusivity as well, I promise to keep this feedback form open all year long, so that you can say whatever you want to say to us, not just feedback after a certain event. I believe that this feedback form would be a great way for you to have a voice, and for us to know what you all think about anything that we do as class officers.
